The project includes the following programs and activities:
CULTURE FOR ALL
TRAINING THE TRAINERS
The aim of the program is to build up capacities in rural and provincial areas (isolated areas) for work with children and youth in conflict prevention, intercultural communication and creativity enhancement through performing arts.
These trainings consist seminars and workshops in Debar, Kavadarci, Kumanovo, Tetovo and Bitola – not always in the towns but also in the rural surroundings around the towns. The trainings are carried out by already trained staff of CTC with more then 3 years of experience joined by experts from Wolf and Waters Arts Company in Great Britain and from Het Waterhius and Kunstebow Institute in Holland.
Each year we target staff of 2 to 3 local independent cultural organization, individual artists, and art teachers from 4 primary schools, in total between 70 to 80 trainees and about 200 children. The activities are carried out in close dialogue and cooperation with the local municipalities that will initially participate with formal interest and in kind contribution (space, local logistics and other) and in partnership with local schools and independent cultural organizations.
Each year this activity is taking place in other municipalities or continues the work in the same municipalities if an interest of a deeper involvement of the local government authorities is expressed in developing projects for concrete work with children and youth.
THEATRE FOR YOU
The aim of the is to include as much as possible disadvantaged groups of children (children with handicap, orphans, delinquents, street children etc.) in as much cultural and artistic activities as possible.
To create possibilities for this group of children to take part actively in some artistic activity has a two-folded relevance:
- It enables these children to exercise their right to cultural and artistic expression
- It builds up their self-confidence and positive view on life and creates better conditions for them to integrate in the society
The project foresees two weeks intensive training program for 8 members of the staff of CTC or facilitators associated to CTC in order to complement their experience with specific knowledge about how to handle this special group of children. These trainings will be done by pedagogues at Cirkus Cirkor – Sweden and Wolf and Waters Company from Great Britain.
The trained staff will be dispersed in groups of two and they will work in these institutions that foster these children where each group will be joined by one other staff from every respective institution. These institutions are: The house for delinquent children “Nikolla Vapcarov” – Skopje, The orphanage “11 October” – Skopje, and the School for def and dumb children “Nikolla Karev” – Skopje.
Each year within each institution 30-40 children at the age of 7-17 will be actively involved. The work with each group will be about 6 months and it will consist of performing arts techniques and circus techniques that encourage concentration, cooperation, active listening, open communication, conflict prevention and conflict resolution skills (mediation) etc. The same period of work will be also a training period for the local staff from each institution in order to enable them to continue such work on their own or with periodic guidance by CTC.
