Project - CHILDREN, THEATRE AND EDUCATION

Probably the most relevant project from all is the project ”Children, Theatre and Education” which is implemented with the support by the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development, the Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency and the Foundation Open Society Institute – Macedonia.

This project has been implemented for almost four years and includes all the goals, activities and ideas which CTC strives for as an organization. The implementation of this project has enabled CTC to profile itself at city, national, regional and international level as a model organization which can be relied on and which can significantly influence the cultural life in its entirety, promote new ideas in the educational system and contribute to more open artistic, cultural and social communication between different cultures and ethnicities in Macedonia.

The goal of the project is to promote the children’s theatre and the children’s culture as a worthy artistic activity which deserves higher status in the society and which can be used as a tool in the educational and social processes in the Macedonian multicultural society when dealing with multiethnic issues, understanding the culture of the “other” and understanding the children’s rights and the democracy.

The goal is realised by:

  • direct theatre work with children from different ethnic and social background
  • creation of new theatre plays for children and their bilingual publishing in a form of a book
  • production of theatre performances for children
  • creation of tools for learning about the democracy and children’s rights
  • reaching wider and mixed children audience as well as other similar issues
  • introduction of internationally verified successful methods and experiences in the development of the children’s theatre by theatre workshops and seminars.

As a result of the above mentioned, the awareness of the educational role of the theatre among children, parents, teachers and the theatre workers is increased. Furthermore, the theatre language and theatre games help in raising the awareness for cohabitation and conflict resolution and help in entering deeply into the child conscience and in the same time, all its inner uneasiness, problems which through theatre games can be easily overcame, come up to the surface.

All these activities are focused, planned and coordinated in the three main components of the project:

  • Street stories
  • Playwrights Workshop
  • Summer school for Theatre and Education
